Jamie Cobb

Map Director Jamie Cobb joined a creative line-up at ADI FAD's 2021 conference, focussed on 'Design beyond Technology'. In his keynote, Jamie explored the role of the industrial designer in relation to the future of our ambient tech devices.

Ambient technology is at its most profound when it disappears. It’s inextricably woven into our everyday lives; it’s both physically and metaphorically disappearing from our known environments. How do we create affordances in use, etiquette and trust if the physical does not exist?

There is an argument that industrial designers need to create new archetypes to articulate and encourage natural behaviours and engagement. For Map, and Jamie, this is imperative in the success of ambient technology. Read more on the speakers and their talks, including Jamie's online: fad.cat
