Big ideas, small machines.

We worked with Mayku to redesign their desktop vacuum former – making it easier to use, better engineered and more inspiring for a new generation of makers.

Mayku approached us with a clear ambition: to make industrial-grade manufacturing processes accessible at a personal scale. They were developing a family of compact machines, starting with a desktop vacuum former, supported by a platform full of content designed to inspire creativity and provide the tools and materials to bring ideas to life.

At the heart of Mayku’s strategy was a simple idea: they are a content company as much as a hardware brand. By creating beautiful, practical content that sparks imagination, they would drive demand for the machines and materials needed to make that creativity real.

Our task was to reimagine their vacuum former. We focused on reducing the bill of materials and packaged size, integrating a tray-actuated heat and vacuum switch, and refining every touchpoint of the product experience. Our goal was to improve not only the machine’s efficiency and manufacturability, but also to make it more intuitive, visually appealing and satisfying to use.

Through close collaboration with Mayku, we helped bring greater precision and approachability to the vacuum former – balancing robust performance with a simple, inviting human-centric experience. More than refining a machine, this project was about laying the foundations for a new approach to making, powered by creativity and scaled for the desktop.
